Cheque (Check) Printing layout is constantly shifting

Posted on by 100

We are new to Business Central but have an issue where every time we print a cheque it shifts down ever so slightly so that over time, the print is shifted significantly and we have to tell our support team to reset the margin.

Is there a fix for this?

I can recall reading a blog sometime about a year ago or so (apologies no idea what the URL was) talking about printer "vagaries". I can't say for sure if the blog said it was Ricoh, but I remember thinking to myself they should consider an HP printer.  Much as I am not a fan of HP as a company (and would take a crappy chromebook over an HP laptop!), they're the only brand of printer/MFC I've never had a problem with.

I'll provide you with some samples.

The printer is a Ricoh C4503. Using the PCL6 drivers. We have 4 different computers.

I do find the Ricoh finicky though. In some preliminary testing, we found that individual trays produce different print registrations (shifted vs the other trays), which is odd for a modern copier (I think).

Do you have some images and other info you can share?  Printer models, configs, etc.?

I am not seeing anything reported regarding this.  Have you tried a different printer to see if you get the same results?
