Does running a Realtime workflow before a field is updated results in a single service call or two service calls by the CRM platform

Hi There, i'm updating a field on the same entity where the real time / synchronous workflow is registered to run. If i choose - starting the workflow before the record fields change, does this result in the saving a service call (update) to the server, where i'm doing an update operation in the workflow step. in other words, will the record be updated twice or once as i'm comparing to that of a pre-operation plug-in.

    Hi,

I think that particular "before" only works for "delete" operation. You can't do "before" an update as far as I know, at least not with the workflows (you can use "before" with a plugin, though, but that's a different question)

You are right.. And it's only for real-time workflows, it seems..

I checked in the audit log quickly. There are two update operations in this scenario. They happen at the same time (and CRM tends to mix up the order in such cases), but, from what I can see, "update record" step in the workflow is submitted to the database first (which would be expected, so it's probably how it is).

That update on the screenshot is happening in the workflow:
