Auto-generated e-mails stuck in pending

The CRM administrator before me set up several workflows to auto-send notifications when Opportunities are created and/or closed.

Every single e-mail notification (dating back to April 1, 2015) is stuck in Pending. I can't figure out why.

When I look in Processes, each process is listed as "Draft". And yet, e-mails are still being generated and held in Pending? I need to clean out 648 messages and I have no idea how to get rid of them. Any ideas?

Do you want to send those emails, or to delete them?  To understand why they are pending, loot the who sends the email, and check his Mailbox setting. It could be a generic account such as CRM Notification, and if the Outgoing is not set up to use Email Router or a Server Side Sync, those emails will never be submitted.

You can always delete all the emails in Activities, selecting a page at a time.

There is probably an active process still running and generating these emails.

Have you looked at all processes in Settings? Look up the name of the process in Settings- System Jobs, then search for it in processes.

    Best regards,
    Daniela

If you can't find any activated workflows which can generate these emails then check the plugins registered on the Opportunities entity. You can find plugin registration tool in the SDK.

To find out whether they were created by a workflow you could open one of the emails, navigate the to related menu and see if there anything under 'Background Processes'. This is presuming the workflows are not set to auto delete.

The records may have the status of pending because email router/Outlook has not been set up for the user?

If you would like to delete the emails you can use a bulk deletion job.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Stantum,

Please verify the user you are sending the email as has been approved and the test & enable mailbox has been executed otherwise the emails will not be sent.

    Thanks,

Thank you everyone. I was able to delete all of the previous stuck e-mails and disable the malfunctioning Workflow until a future time when I'm able to build the Workflow/process properly.

I was able to identify 3 separate processes/workflows that were generating all the e-mails, although none of those e-mails were ever successfully sent.
