Business Logic and the Quick Import/Export tool

Hello,

I have recently been tasked with becoming familiar with the Data Import and Export Framework, recently I have been using the Quick Import/Export tool which makes the process simple but has left me with a doubt.

When importing I'm entering the identity of intertest, the source data format and the path the data itself. My question is if does this process take into account any business logic that may be implemented such as checking boxes in the entities within my processing group?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Hi Humberto,

Can you rephrase your question? What is it exactly you want to know about what check boxes? What do you mean with "identity of interest"?

Thanks for the response sorry If I wasn't clear, I meant entity not identity. Additionaly by that I just meant the entity I needed for example the Customer entity if I were to be exporting or importing customers. Regarding the checkboxes when I go to processing groups and then identities there's two checkboxes I've been instructed to always have a check on them. Not sure if I would have the correct translation as I'm working with a spanish environment but the checkboxes are "Execute business logic in insert and update" and "Execute enterprise validations".

Sorry for the mistakes, I don't have as much time working with AX and with all the information plus going from english to spanish I sometimes mix names up.

    Hi Humberto,

These checkboxes are on two levels: The target entity as well as the processing group. The target entity will enable the option to run business logic. On the processing group you can disable it if you don't want to use it. If it has been disabled on the target entity, it will not execute the business logic even when you enable it on the processing group.

If you have enabled the business logic for insert and update, the insert and update methods of the target table are executed. The other option is called "Execute business validations". When enabled it will call several validation methods if the data is correct. It can then e.g. check if an end date is not prior to a start date. But it depends on the logic written in the validation methods per table.
