GP 2015 web client reports default to Template

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Anyone seen or figured out why the web client in GP 2015 always defaults to Template as the report type?  In the desktop client it respects the choice in the Template Configuration window.  But the web client seems to ignore that and always defaults to Template no matter the Configuration setting.

    Hello Mike,

We don't have any type of list made public that lists all known issues with Dynamics GP and related applications.

To answer your question, it isn't that this issue isn't worth to fix, but each issue is given a priority by GP Development and rated accordingly as to how serious of an issue it is, how many customers it affects and also, in cases like this, whether there is a work-around that allows the users to do what they want to do.

As much as the GP Developers would like to, not each and every issue can be 'fixed' and issues like this, which has a work-around that a user can manually flip the report type from template to Standard, which will allow them to use the report as they need to, tend to have a lower priority rating to be fixed.

This all being said, I would enter this as a product suggestion, or vote on it if it has already been entered, because the more votes an issue or suggestion gets, the more likely GP Development is to add it to a future release of the application:

Every suggestion is read and triaged by the Dynamics GP Development Team.  Or vote on an existing suggestion, as the more votes they get, increases the priority rating on it.

Where are these "defects" documented?  My web searches came up with nothing on this.  At least now this come up with this post.

And as a follow-up why is a "defect" not worthy to fix?

My one customer that is considering the web client howled when they hit this.  It will probably keep them from implementing the web client as it significantly disrupts their flow.

This has been documented as a defect with Web Client 2015 > the reports all default to template instead of defaulting to standard.

I believe it was the same way in Web Client for Dynamics GP 2013 R2.

At this time, there isn't any mention of fixing the issue as the work-around is to manually flip the Report Type from Template to Standard when the Report Destination window opens.

    Thanks
