Mass converting of Leads/Prospects to contacts.

Hi,

We have recently migrated our data and moved from Act! to Dynamics. It mostly ran smoothly except for an issue of communication with the company we went through meaning that we now have leads and prospects which should actually be 'Contacts'.

I have tried a test 'group' qualifying, but it did not create any contacts but instead qualified them to just opportunities.

Does anybody have any experience or ideas of how best to accomplish this task? We have spoken to the company we went through, but they are charging a considerable amount and we are considering alternatives.

    You might check out this set of custom workflow utilities:CRM 2011 Workflow Utilities

    One of the items available is converting a Lead to just a Contact. 

    Once you've installed this solution you'll be able to create a workflow you can kick off manually against the selected Leads and it should convert them to Contacts and maintain the mapping between the two.

    You should be able to select what kind of record you create when converting Leads.  If you can't get them to convert from the Leads areas, try adding them to a marketing list and using the Qualify button on the ribbon there.

    Your way worked just fine, however, they are not linked to their company when they are qualified.
