Why is my on-prem dynamics trying to connect to 'crminsights.crm.dynamics.com' when Im trying to access the unified interface

Hello,

First time poster here. I recently upgraded to crm365 Version 1612 (9.0.8.9) (DB 9.0.8.9) on-premises. I primarily access crm via Chrome but I have tested Edge and IE and all 3 browsers show the same behavior.

I was super excited to try out the unified user interface stuff. I changed one of my apps to use uui but when I access it , it constantly times out behind the scenes. It defaults to a custom dashboard pointing to custom entities. For some odd reason it constantly tries to access the following URL: https://crminsights.crm.dynamics.com/api/Discovery/?originUrl=https://<my onprem url here>. The error is ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID.

My orgainzations' proxy doesn't trust the certificate for this site. I know I could probably ask them to trust it... but why would an on prem install try to contact this crminsights website?

Other than my solution there are two other solutions installed:

  • msdynce_CustomerServiceHubPatch 9.0.20.0123
  • msdynce_Customerservicehub 9.0.5.56

Is there a way to disable this call? I tried a bunch of things:

  • removed access to Organization Insights Dashboard from Default Solution
  • Deleted said Dashboard
  • Disabled all SDK registered Messages
  • Deactviated the 3 task flows I could see
  • Unchecked all of the cards for the sales insight relationship thingy

PS: This only happens when accessing the UUI. With the Web UI it works flawlessly.

Thanks!

    Hello Jason,

At this point, considering all of the troubleshooting you've already done, I would submit a ticket with Microsoft support.

Having the exact same problem.  Were you able to find a solution?

Sadly it hasn't been resolved yet. A ticket has been opened with Microsoft for months :(. I guess they want us to use dynamics online.

Hi. It was resolved. A patch was applied. They did not give me specifics sadly.
