Currently, we are using dynamics 365 sales with two environment (test and prod) and we are planning to create a new environment which replaces the test environment and this process of creating new environment will require additional storage. We are planning to buy add- on storage for a month, in this month we will test and see the new environment and if it is okay then will removes the old test environment. and I have some in-quires regarding this new add-on storage and how will affect us.
1) I would like to know what happens to a newly created environment if I purchase add-on storage for a month and do not renew it. Will the extra storage be removed automatically, and will this affect the environment created during that period?
2) After we remove old test environment, The total storage will be in the limit of our tenant storage, so the new environment should be in our tenant storage from that point onwards, right?

    Hello,

    For more clearance,
    ----
Currently: I have 2 environments   | Total Usage: 17 gb     |   Total Dataverse storage: 20 gb
    ----
I am planning to copy the prod to make new environment for testing. My current testing environment is mess. For this purpose, I am planning to buy add-on storage from Microsoft for a month.

    - After I buy the storage, I will copy the prod to newTest environment.

After adding add-on: 3 environments | Total Usage: let's say 24 gb  | Total Dataverse Storage: 25 gb (I will buy 5 gb extra as addin)

    ---

Now, at the end of the month, after carefully reviewing and testing my newTest environment I will delete the old test environment.

    Then:  2 environments   | Total Usage: 14 gb   | Total Dataverse storage: 25 (5 add-on)

    ---

    After that month,

2 environments   | Total Usage: 14 gb   | Total Dataverse storage: 20  <-- this should happen

    --

So simply do i still have to buy add-on storage. My question is the environment where it will be in my tenent storage (20 gb) or in the add-on storage (That extra 5 gb)

I am just concern about, if i remove the add-on storage from 2nd month, my newTest environment should not have any effect on it.

If I know for sure, then I can buy the add-on storage next month.

    Thanks

    Hey!

If you start to consume storage above your entitlment (let's say, after the copy from Prod to NewTest, you're now using 24GB and not the 20GB you're entitled).  You'll still be able to work regularly, since regular operations are allowed (creating data, deleting data, deploying solutions, adding users).  However, additional  administrative tasks like copy/restore/provisioning will NOT be possible, since you don't have the 1GB available capacity that is required.

As soon as you fall within your entitlement (for example, after deleting the "Old" test environment), and that 1GB of storage is available, you should be able to continue performing those admin tasks (Copy/Restore/Provision)

    Regards,
