I am trying to implement cost price to calculate profitability on products sold. Is there any inbuilt functionality available for this.

I have multiple products and priced differently under various rice list belongs to various geographies. So i believe the best way to implement cost price is on Pricelistitem entity. I want it to be added as currency price or percentage or both.

    Hi Neeraj,

There is no built-in capability to calculate the cost price, and you will find the Price List and Price List Item aren't as extendable as most out-of-the-box entities.  It is possible to use different "Cost" Price List for different geographical location and use the Price List functionality for discounts from standard price.

How will you need to use this data?  If you need it as reference for analysis in reports that might be enough, if you need it for anything smarter you will likely need to extend the CRM functionality.

    Good luck!

    Sorry for the late response.

Thank you for your response. I  need cost price just to calculate the operating profitability. No other purpose involved. I want to understand the inbuilt concept of List Price and Standard Cost in Dynamics 365. Is it not related to cost and selling price?

Out of the box you can track the Product Cost as a single currency field.  You can't have the cost price calculated based on different parameters dynamically.

List Prices allowed you to sell your products based on different criteria - for example a 20% markup of price in the USA.  There are a few ways you can use price lists to configure pricing.  You can get more details here: missdynamicscrm.blogspot.com.au/.../pricing-method-in-microsoft-dynamics-crm-product-catalog.html

You could potentially set up pre-known Cost price lists for different geographical areas and compare to those in custom reports or screens.

    Good luck!

Is it a standard way if i add a custom entity with 1:1 relationship with pricelist products to capture product cost for each line item in pricelistproducts. Later, i can use this entity to present required reports.
