Mass item update in edit to excel

Hey Everyone,

I am trying to retire some items that we don't use anymore in BC using edit to Excelo and I wanted to do this by putting an X- or XYZ- in front of the item..i.e X-item123 or XYZ-item123.  Every time I have tried this I get an error, I have tried even editing 1 item and get errors.  Here are the errors below, any help would be greatly appreciated.

A row created in data set Item_Card_Excel was not published. Error message: 'Control 'Last Date Modified' is read-only. CorrelationId: b0d1b4d5-18a4-4d87-9c19-0c6c2cc7a128.'

A row created in data set Item_Card_Excel was not published. Error message: 'Cannot convert the literal '%20' to the expected type 'Edm.Date'. CorrelationId: 6b675694-ae3c-40cd-9185-b4fa99656866.'

Let me know if you need any more info

Thanks,

Thomas

Alternative suggestion given your actual goal. Use a configuration package. You still work with Excel for that option. Solution that existed before edit in excel - with less of these issues (some others though). docs.microsoft.com/.../admin-how-to-prepare-a-configuration-package

Also, worth considering some other fields. “Blocked”, “Sales Blocked” and “Purchasing Blocked”. Or add an item attribute

I always think that mass update is not the purpose of Edit in Excel. Use configuration package for that.

Hi, this is because you modify the primary key and the system thinks that you are deleting the original items and adding new items. However, the original items should be associated with the data in the BC and cannot be deleted. So there are errors.

Please do not modify the Item No. in Excel, if you do not use it anymore, use the Blocked field instead.

    Hope this will help.

    Thanks.

Is it possible to update Item No. though? Any functionality built into NAV 2013 to allow for mass changes to item no. to happen?
