1096 form
*This post is locked for comments
1. Determine the 1096 totals
2. Get a 1096 form
3. Put the form in a typewriter
4. Complete the form with the typewriter.
Kind of ridiculous for a leading accounting software package, eh? :)
Unfortunately, GP doesn't print 1096s.
Too funny Frank :)
Fortunately the information needed for the 1096 totals is available on the 1099 edit list. To get this report bring up the 'Print 1099' window and click on the printer icon in the upper left-hand corner. If you are REALLY wanting to print the 1096 from within Dynamics you could always modify this edit report in Report Writer to get it to match up. Not something I would want to spend time doing, but hey, you could :)

But...but....but....
Where do I get a typewriter?
LOL - good one Richard!
I use a software called W2 Mate which can import 1099 data from GP and prints out the 1096. No typewriter needed!
This is their website:

Hi Wes,
Thanks for your post.
It looks like you received some great information from the community members. Please post back if you have further questions.
All,
For GP2010 - 1096 print out do we need to buy TypeWriter?O there is any options to print it from GP.
Thanks
Sandip
Hi Sandip,
If you are on Gp2013 you can do it from the same window which you use to print 1099 (Tools>>Routines>>Purchasing>>Print 1099)
Prior to GP2013 there were 2 options in 'Print 1099' window.
1. 1099 Form
2. Alignment Form
With GP 2013, 1096 form was added as the 3rd option in the same window.
Hope this helps.
Hi Naga,
When I try to print the 1096 form, I got Not privileged to run this report. Do you have any idea where I have to setup the setting? I have already given permissions in the Security Roles for Print 1099's.
Thanks and Regards,
John
Hi John,
Can you verify the below steps:
Login as 'sa' (or a Power User)
1. Go to Security Task setup window (Tools >> Setup >> System >> Security Tasks)
2. Select the Security Task ID you assigned for the Security role you selected for the user.
3. Select
Product to 'Microsoft Dynamics GP'
Type to 'Reports'
Series to 'Purchasing'
4. Check if '1096 form' is not selected. Mark the check box and try to print 1096 report by logging into GP with the user you are facing the issue.
