Hello everyone,
I'm undertaking some studies on LCS and although the training materials have been good so far - I would really benefit from having a work shop type scenario where I could familiarize myself with the interface and gui for LCS, perhaps undertake some environment refreshes - that sort of thing. I currently have no access to the portal.
Is there anywhere I could access an LCS environment with sample data/environments purely as a learning tool/training workshop? This would really help my understanding.
Thanks.
Unfortunately there's no "sample" LCS project that you could access. Are you working for a Microsoft customer/partner? If yes, then you could ask your LCS administrator (O365 Global admin) to create you a project that you can use as a playground.
Hi,
As I have access to LCS environment I am not sure but I do remember you can register to LCS yourself and create a sample project. What you cannot do it creation of new environment. For that you can get trial Azure subscription($150 per month credit is given for free) once you have azure subscription, you can attach it on LCS and deploy new environment/s and play around. Doing all this will also give you hands-on because same things are done for real implementation as well.
Make sure you stop the VMs as soon as done you can use $150 credit effectively.
Thanks both.
There is no customer or partner at this point to provide a test project unfortunately.
I do have a PAYG Azure subscription however.
I have logged into LCS with one of my Global Admin accounts (an *.onmicrosoft.com one) and created a project in LCS.
However linking into my Azure by going into "Project settings" -> Azure Connectors results in an error when downloading the Management Certificate. It says"Only Project owners, environment manager and operations user can edit subscription settings."
Clicking on the Authorise link on the same page also gives me a generic error message.
The organisation is classified as Prospect, so this may be the reason? The user account is a Project Owner and is not marked as being a Prospect organisation. The account Organisation field is blank.
I don't think you even need management certificate nowadays. Please check this link: docs.microsoft.com/.../arm-onboarding
But you do need to be part of O365 tenant that has D365FO licenses (trial or actual).
What is your LCS project type and product that you selected for the project?
When creating the project I selected Finance and Operations as the drop down selection.
In Project Settings ->Organizations and ownership - the type is Prospect.
I currently have no D365FO licences, purchased or trial associated with my tenant.
I'm quite sure you can't deploy D365FO environments without licenses.
Yes - this is probably true. And there are no trial licences that I can see available. In fact there are no Finance and Operations licences available from the Office 365 portal at all.
Guess I have have to go without for now.
Thanks for your help.
