Project adjustment error - Root node activity

Hi.

I am trying to post a project adjustment of a timesheet line, and I keep getting this error:

"Root node activities cannot be selected for recording time."
How can I create and post and adjustment for this line or what should I do? I can't find a solution for this.
Thanks,
Roberto

    Hi Roberto,

Can you explain more about your setup? It is possible to setup activity hierarchies. Did you use them? If so, did you create more then only the root node?

    Hi André.

We are using the WBS in our projects, but some project may not have WBS posted yet, and a user coded his timesheet to a root node activity. Now I can't do anything with that activity What is the solution for this?

    Hi Roberto,

If I understand it correctly, the timesheet has been approved already? If so, the only way of correcting this is by correcting data in the database. Probably an administrator or developer can help you with this.

Functionally, the timesheet details are blocked for editing when the workflow status is approved.

    Hi André.

Yes, the timesheet is approved and posted.

So what you say is there is no way to correct those transactions with the standard interface, without getting into the database? I assume we have a lot of transactions that have this error.

    Hi Roberto,

I assume it was not posted as you encountered an error during posting according to your initial question. Only when the timesheet is not posted, it would be possible to change it (using the method suggested above) before it generates transaction records.

    Hi André.

The timesheet has been posted already. The error I encountered is during posting an adjustment to a project.

The timesheet was posted with different rules than I would like it to be, so I've changed the project contract's funding rules and now trying to adjust those timesheets to the new rules I defined. Then when I try to post it, I get this error.

    Hi Roberto,

Now I know the full picture. Possibly you can solve it using a new timesheet. Enter a minus line for the wrong entry and a new line for the correct data. But I don't know what exact changes you have done related to the funding rules if this would be possible now.

    Hi André.

I will give it a try, but it still makes no sense to me. If I've chosen a wrong activity, I should be able to perform the correction while creating an adjustment (this is what the adjustment process is for).

Verify if the Project Parameter settings has Block parent activity selection enabled.  (Journals tab)

    Thank you David.

Updated it now. This will help me in the future, but unfortunately it doesn't resolve what already have been posted.
