Design and Print Case Labels at the end of the packaging lines

Hi

We are implementing D365FO and we have a requirement Gap that we are not sure how to close.

"We need to design Label Templates for case labels based on SKU-Customer requirements, allocate these templates to an Item code/WO. Then send the case label template to the Zebra Label printers for the specific production run. The labels need to be automatically printed when a case passes the sensor on the labeller for that Work Order. So D365 would need to receive a signal from the sensor and send the label file (form + values) to the Zebra printer"

Currently, we are using Colos, Domino and Bartender (depending on the Business Unit) to design labels and to communicate with sensors, and those systems are interfaced with our current ERP (that provides a daily item master file with the contents and variable field values of the labels. We are looking to see whether we can decommission those systems and eliminate that interface during the D365 implementation

Does D365FO support that scenario? or would you advise us to keep those Label Printing Systems?

Thanks in advanced

could keep your existing printer solution and explore this link from Zach

    Thanks Chris

I will post this on the supply Chain Forum to see if we can get some more info/advise

By the information from your link looks like the way to go is to keep and integrate with Bartender and the other labelling systems that we have. I cannot find a way to replace them right now.

RE: Create Case and Pallet Labels at the end of the packaging lines

You might get more response on this if you post in the D365 Supply Chain forum - there are a number of out of the box scenarios for label printing in the advanced warehouse module.

Also take a look at this roadmap feature (due for public preview in June) to natively integrate with the bartender service:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../connect-finance-operations-apps-back-end-systems-using-bartender-labeling-system-integration

I'm not sure how the sensors work in this scenario but I would imagine a Power Automate flow could be used to trigger the required actions in Dynamics, possibly with a small dynamics customisation (a data entity or web service to receive the details sent by the sensor.)
