Custom field text not displaying correctly on the Receipt format designer

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone has any success modifying the retail receipt format with a custom text.

I've done this before in AX2012 and not sure why this isn't working on the VM.

These are the steps that I took:

1. Create the language text first.

2. Create the custom field.

3. Go to receipt format designer to find the custom field and you'll see it gives the "Missing String" error.

I've even ran job 1090 just for fun but it didn't change anything.

I haven't changed any code to accommodate the custom field so I'm not sure if it'll work or not.  That'll be my next step since I'm hoping it is a cosmetic issue on the Receipt format designer.

In case it is not a cosmetic issue --> has anyone managed to add a custom field to the receipt format designer without the "Missing String" error?

thanks!

    Ok. I just tried it.

The custom field does show up in the code.  That's a good thing.

I think it's just a cosmetic issue.  Too bad that it doesn't come up on the receipt designer.

I'd still hope that someone has a way to have the text show up properly in the receipt designer.

    thanks!

    Hi Neeraj Chawla,

In AX2012 we added it to RetailLanguageText.

In D365 it adds it automatically when you add the text in Language Text (i.e. the first screenshot).

The text does exist in RetailLanguageText and I can see it.

that's why I'm wondering why is it happening.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

What platform update are you working on ?

I faced similar issue when I was working in Update 7, but this was later on fixed on Update 8.

There is also a hotfix available for this if you search on LCS.

    Hi Mike,

Can you please tell me once you add the Custom Field in code level where does the field show up. For me in the receipt designer MyCustomfield is present but in the front end I am not able to view MyCustomField because there is no value assigned to it.  If you could please tell me in code level where can I see MyCustomField.

There is a bug in the system.

The receipt designer tool being launched is company specific and launched everytime in the wrong company. Check and change your users default company and then launch the receipt designer. It will solve your issue.

The POS Language Text is company-specific.  I was getting the similar results because my strings were in USRT and my default company was DAT.    Once I changed my company to USRT the problem went away.
