I have recently started providing assistance to a small business that uses Microsoft Dynamics NAV with SQL server that was set up by the NAV support people.
When the NAV server is started, multiple instances of "sa" show up in the NAV database information. Can anyone explain why this happens (I have already asked this question in the SQL forum, but was advised to ask here as it might be better understood).

do you use the NAS (navision application server) ?
When you look at the sessions in 2009, you see all connections to the SqlServer. Some of them are system connections form services running on Sqlserver. They are not consuming users from your license. When i use the session form, I Always start with putting a filter on my database name, which ends up in showing only the connections to my Navision database.
I have tried to create an image, but cannot get it small enough to meet the limit set.
Hi,
For adding image select Use Rich formatting while replying to the forum.
In Rich Formatting tool you get option to insert a picture.
Hi Saurav
NAV 2009 R2 Classic. Checking sessions in File, Database, Information. The sessions appear at the very top of the connections list, but do not count in "Current Sessions". If you can tell me how to attach a file, I can provide the information.
Regards
Michael
Hi Michael,
Which version of NAV you are referring to and Where you are checking the sessions?
Hello Saurav
No, this is not related to standard users or transactions. It happens when the service starts and before standard users have access. There are 19 sessions all starting at exactly the same time on service start (or server reboot).
Hi Michael,
There can be two reasons for same -
1. Multiple users are using SA to login into Navision. Navision does not restrict multiple users to use same account. (IF you are checking the NAV Database Information).
2. Only one user is using SA login and doing multiple transactions. At Sql the transaction is appearing in steps / Parts. (IF you are checking the users in SQL).
Hope it helps. Let me know if any issues.
