Hi All,

I am new to MS Dynamics CRM. I work for a non-profit. We are planning to install the Dynamics CRM non-profit version. My questions are following:

1. Do we have to install SQL database before we can Install the CRM solution or does it come with SQL database packaged together?

2. Do we have to install the regular version of Dynamics CRM before we can install the non-profit module on top of it?

Sorry if the questions seem dumb.

thank you for your feedback!

AJ

    Hi AJ,

You would have to install Dynamics CRM (regular install process) before you can import the non-profit solution template. There should not be any separate SQL Database install other than what you do as part of CRM installation.

    1. Install CRM

    2. Import non-profit solution and any data that you got with it.

You have to install sql first  before installing crm , sql does not comes with crm.

CRM is generic solution and it can be customized ,configured based on user requirement. If you already have solution from any third-party that fits for requiremnt , you could install crm and import the solution to the system.

    AJ,

    1. Do we have to install SQL database before we can Install the CRM solution or does it come with SQL database packaged together?

--> Yes, we need to install the SQL first, it is one of the CRM Installation pre-requisite because CRM database is using SQL and stored in the SQL Table and also you need this to connect to SSRS, I suggest you to use the newest SQL Version + 64 bit to avoid any issue in the future. No, it doesn't come along with CRM as one package, so you need to install it separately.

    2. Do we have to install the regular version of Dynamics CRM before we can install the non-profit module on top of it?

--> Yes. You need to install the Dynamics CRM Vanilla Server for OnPremise first.

Then you can download the non-profit or NGO solution that you can download freely through dynamics market place, the solution developed by MS Lab, and later you just need to import the solution on it.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.
