GP 2013 Workflow Install error

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi, I hope someone can help. This has been driving me crazy.

I have a test environment with GP2013 installed on sql 2012 and windows svr 2012 r2. I have successfully restored a GP10 database in to the system and updated on the tables.

I have been able to install the webclient and web services and they appear to be functioning correctly. I have installed SharePoint Foundation 2010 stand alone.

When I try and install workflow on the default site, it fails during the install with the error: <nativehr>0x80070057</nativehr><nativestack></nativestack>

If I interrogate the event viewer, I get the error that I've copied below which appears to be centred around a security object key not existing. I have tried uninstalling sharepoint and web services and deleting all sql databases that relate to them then reinstalling but I get the same error.

I then tried creating another site to install on and the install gets further but fails with the error "stsadm.exe returned '-1'. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.". However, the event log shows the exact same error as shown below so I assume they are related.

Could someone please help, I'm pulling me hair out over this. TIA

RE: GP 2013 Workflow Install error

In the end after trying every solution imaginable and checking all permissions I started with a fresh VM and installed web services, SharePoint and workflow before web client. Installed without a hitch. I also selected SharePoint as a stand alone rather than farm.

I think my error arose after I installed SharePoint as a farm then uninstalled and installed stand alone. Seems something became corrupted somewhere. Glad it's fixed now though but shame I had to start again.

Is the user you are doing the install as a SharePoint Admin? SysAdmin in SQL?

Thank you for the reply. After uninstalling the web client, web services and repairing sharepoint the error remains. Any other suggestions welcome. It definitely seems to be linked to what I see in the event viewer

RE: GP 2013 Workflow Install error

Are you installed GP 2013 web client in default site? If yes, reinstall the web client in new site instead of default site and install the workflow in default site. Already, we have faced this error for one of our environment and tried above things and everything worked for us. I not sure this the correct solution, but this was resolved  our problem.

    Hope this helps!!!
