Change display name in a view

Hi,

I am trying to change the "account" name of the column to "reseller" in the view "Won Opportunities".

Screenshot_5F00_44.png

I have tried changing the label in the "opportunity" form but that only changes it when I am creating a new opportunity.

I tried changing the value with JavaScript (Xrm.Page.ui.controls.get(parentaccountid).setLabel("Reseller");) but I only know how to run it when it's loading the new opportunity form.

I think that essentially it's this "display name" that has to be changed but CRM won't allow me to do it.

Any further ideas on how to achieve this goal please?

Kind regards

    Hello,

You should open CRM -> Settings-> Customizations ->Customize System -> opportunity entity -> fields, find parentaccountid field there and change label for it.

    Hello Andrii,

I have found it but it gives me the same issues as when I go to it in the form.

I am unable to edit the values. I have a system administrator role though.

    To show you: http://prntscr.com/cvam0f

And this is in the form, here I was able to change the label. http://prntscr.com/cvam6f But as said in my initial post: it only edits the name when you're creating a new opportunity. As shown here: http://prntscr.com/cvamu8

    Kind regards

    Hi,

The Account Display name is linked to the Account Name and you cannot un-link them. Perhaps the best approach would be to create a custom field to hold your account name - and then use the standard Account Name for your display name. You can use a Business Rule to link them together until changed.

    Hope this answers your question.

    Regards,

    Rutul

    Hey Rutul,

Thank you for your reply. But I'm not sure if I understand correctly, I understood it like this: make a new custom field (lookup) and name it to "Reseller". Then make a business rule that fills "Reseller" with the data from display name: "Account".

If that was it: I am struggeling with the rule. Right now I have it set up like this: http://prntscr.com/cvbkyh (I also tried setting Account to Reseller)

    with result: http://prntscr.com/cvbnbq

But it doesn't duplicate the data. Maybe a rule can by used this way but I'm doing it wrong?

    Kind regards

First of all, I understood that you will select reseller (custom lookup field) and value of reseller will copied to account field.

So in your condition, you have set, "If reseller does not contain data then set Reseller to account

    Set condition:

If reseller contains data, then set field value of Account = Reseller

Else if: If reseller not equal to Account then set account = reseller

I hope this should work. Else real time workflow can resolve your purpose.

    Regards,

    Rutul

    Hi Wei,

I am in edit mode, it's locked. I click edit here: http://prntscr.com/cvpa62

And as you can see I am in the same window as you but can't change it. http://prntscr.com/cvpaiw

But I noticed "display name can be modified" is set to false in managed properties. But again, I am not allowed to change that either. http://prntscr.com/cvpaxq I am a system administrator though. The only thing I can think of is that it's because it's a system made field, not made by me. Could that be it? What's your take on this?

    Kind regards

ok, i just noticed you are using system field. unfortunately you cant edit this field.

The best solution with less effort, you can refer to Rutul Chauhan suggestion.
