Payroll update engine has stopped Working

For some reason, when I go to: Maintenance>U.S. Payroll Update> Check for Updates, I receive the error "Payroll update engine has stopped Working" then "Window is checking for a solution for this problem" then "A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".

 

 Has anyone seen this? I have looked all over the place. but I cannot even locate when "Payroll update engine" resides. It is not a service.

    These issues occur when you use Dynamics 365 GP on a VDI like Azure WVD or Citrix VDI.

    These issues can be stopped when you load Dynamics with Administrator's privileges.

    Which version of VDI are you currently on?

    If you are on wither of the mentioned above then open GP with Administrator's privileges and the problem will be solved.

    This was a known issue in GP2015.  It has been resolved in the most recent service pack.

    Brenda, interested to know if this solved problem - we have a client that is pushing to run GP on the server and the IT staff are going 'NO WAY' but if this works, it may be a reason for it to happen.

    Not sure if you are attempting to run the install in a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), but we've experienced tax table update issues when trying to do so in this type of environment. We suggest attempting to run the tax table update when logged directly on the GP SQL server.

    Also, a good best practice when loading is to open GP with full administrator access by right clicking on the Dynamics GP icon, and then clicking "Run as Administrator."

    Hi, are you on a 64bit server? In version 10 of GP this is a known issue and is resolved by a service pack..not sure which one, but download and apply the latest one.
