Migration using Kingswaysoft

Posted on by 7,316

Hi, I am working on migrating our Onprem data to D365 online. I have used Kingswaysoft and so far working great except for the stub users issue.

We need to retain createdon and createdby in D365, so we have imported our existing user base as stub users(disabled and got salesperson role assigned).

We did modify salesperson role to have access to our migration related entities.

In the kingswaysoft SSIS tool itself, we have mapped createdbyname to Createdby(text lookup editor to primary field), Overridecreatedon and all that stuff.

CreatedOn values are being migrated as it is but Createdby is being migrated as the name that runs this ssis package(my name in this case).

what else am I doing wrong? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks for any help.

Please make sure whether you have migrated the user record in the Target system. Also, Please check whether createdby is mapped properly with the guid of system user record

There are a couple of things that you should make sure.

    • Our support of createdby field only works for the initial creation of the record. If the record has previously been populated, you would have to delete it from the system, and re-create it.
    • All createdby users have to be an enabled user account in the target system with proper privilege assigned.
    • Of course, you need to make the user does actually exist in the target system.

If the above doesn't help, make sure to reach out to our support team for further assistance as Lu has suggested. Please keep in mind, our support for migration requires a commercial license or otherwise you can always acquire a support ticket from us if it is an issue that involves more investigations. However, if you make sure the above list is satisfied, there shouldn't be an issue with the population of createdby field.

    Hi partner,

Since this is a problem of Kingswaysoft, I would like to recommend you also contact KingswaySoft's Support Services.
