Smartlist Permissions? New GP admin needs HELP!

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

New GP admin with a request to give user permissions to previously setup Smartlist. I have found a few articles online that seem to talk about setting up Smartlist permission from first installation. I simply want to find the Smartlist and allow user to access. Do I need to setup security task, etc? GP 2013

Is the smartlist report available for one person?  a group?  Who currently owns the report?

This is a new smartlist report that a user created last week

Should this smartlist be available to everyone?

We need to restrict to 3 users specifically

I apologize. I have been told that we can restrict to one department.

setup a Security Task (Administration > Security Task) and give them access to the smartlist. From the drop down arrow beside Product, where it says Microsoft Dynamics GP, choose Smartlist, beside Type, choose Smartlist Object. Beside Series, choose Smartlist Objects. You will see a list of all your smartlists. Add the appropriate checkmark to the smartlist.

Now that specific smartlist is a "Task". Assign the task to the role - open Security Roles (Administration > Security Roles). Choose the role of the person, and put a checkmark in your newly created TASK.

Then Assign the user the role using User Security (Administration > User Security). Choose the user and then the company, and put a checkmark in the role that has access to this smartlist.

Have the user log off and log back in. Everything should work now.

So I need to create a new Task ID which can be named anything, correct?

Correct!  a good naming convention is to put SL in front of the task ID and the Role - that way, you'd know that these are SmartList tasks and roles.  Your choice!
