Contact system view filter based on parent account custom field

Apologize in advance if this is an obvious question, but my searching on these forums and Googling hasn't gotten me the answers I seek.

'm trying to create a custom system view for contacts based on a custom field that I created on the parent account entity.

This isn't a custom lookup or anything, just a simple view.  I assumed it would be in the related section of the edit filter criteria, but all I see are pre-defined fields.  Is this something that is possible to do, and if it is what's the easiest way of accomplishing this?

    Related section shows the N:1 relationship that the entity(for which you are defining the view) has.

    Please go to the top - under field section - you will be able to see your custom field.

    Thanks, I see what I was doing wrong, in the related section I was only seeing the primary contact relationship because I was looking only for "Accounts", and because a primary contact was not set on the account I was getting no results.

    Your suggestion of a N:1 relationship caused me to understand the role of relationships more, and I see that I needed to use the Company Name (Accounts) selection, along with the custom field, and that got me the results I was looking for.
