Sales Order | Customer No. | Validation Results | "You cannot enter letters in this field"

We have been using D365 Business Central for years. When entering Customer No. we use an abbreviation of the Customer Name, e.g. CSTMRNAME. Just last week we started getting a validation error when using this in a Sales Quote or Sales Order. The error is "You cannot enter letters in this field." Any thoughts on how to fix this?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

Please check first if there is any customization done on this field or Sales Order or Sales Quote. Because this error you are facing not the standard one, this is the custom one.

    Thanks

We have not had any issue until now. The Sales order and Sales quote have been modified in order to print correctly but we have not added any filters to the Customer No. field.

It sounds like you have some custom code added to your solution.

Go to extension management and check what apps you have installed there.

The customer field in standard Business Central is a code field that should accept both numbers and letters.

If you are in BC Online you can also contact your CSP partner and possible have them open a support case with Microsoft around this issue.

Interesting apparently all of the extensions are no longer installed.

Extension Installation Status shows "There is nothing to show in this view."

Are you a super user in the system?

There should be a list of extensions installed and because you are not seeing anything there you might have a permission issue.

Maybe you should check with your system administrator that you have been assigned the correct permissions in your system?

I am the sys admin and a Super user. It appears that all of the add-ins have been removed including Office 365 access, the Excel add-in, etc.

Check either your Customer or Contact Phone No.

There shouldn't be any letters on the phone no.

I believe the Customer or Contact Phone No was entered without validation.

When you enter the Customer No in the Sales Header, the validation on Sales Header was triggered and errored out.

Thank you! The error was in the phone number. It had an x before the extension.
