Can I install HR and Sales Premium on the same environment? Any best practice guidelines here?

I am pretty new to D365. I am trying to deploy these Sales and HR for our users to start working on them.

  • As a first step created an environment and installed Sales Premium on it.
  • Now I am trying to decide if I should install HR on the same environment  or create a new one?
  • Also note, in the near future we do plan to start using Finance as well and that should work closely with HR.

Given this information, are there any best practices guidelines here?

There seem to be lot articles online that suggest either approach is fine since you can make these applications talk to each other.

What tradeoffs should I look at to make this decision?

  • Is one method better for integration than the other etc

Thanks in advance!!

    Hi Prasanna,

Dynamics 365 HR is a cloud SaaS offering and cannot deployed by yourself. Microsoft is providing the environment.

Thank you for that info Andre, however on the admin guide for HR it says to select a Power Apps environment see #4 here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/human-resources/hr-admin-setup-provision#provision-a-human-resources-project

And also when I reach this step on the Microsoft Dynamics Lifecycle Services (LCS), I can see the environment where I have installed Dynamics 365 Sales Premium.

In the very next paragraph here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/human-resources/hr-admin-setup-provision#select-a-power-apps-environment

    • They mention "Data integration and testing strategies should be considered, such as Sandbox, UAT, or Production. Carefully consider the implications for your deployment, because it's not easy to change which Human Resources environment is mapped to a Power Apps environment."

Which is why I want to think through this carefully, please advice!!

    Thank in advance !!!

    Hi Prasanna,

If you see your LCS project then you will have the option to select any product at a time.

I think you have to create a separate LCS project for D365 HR and D365 Sales.

You can create a new environment only when you are the administrator of LCS.

If you have a D365 HR environment created then you have to create a corresponding CDS environment.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../hr-admin-setup-provision

Once you have this then you do integration between the system using Dual write or Data integrator(Power Platform).
