Problems with some Reports in GP

ReportReport

Hello everyone,

We are facing a weird issue in our Dynamics GP implementation and I wonder if someone else has faced the same problem. Here is the issue:

When we try to print any financial report we get basically two kind of error:
     1. We either get  a blank or empty report  (with no data in it, just the header information)
     2. or GP crashes badly and gives us the microsoft several error window and sends the info to microsoft (and the answer from microsoft is "unknown issue with GP"

I would deeply appreciate your comments/hints/advice on this issue.

Regards,

Ignacio.

    Ignacio,

What type of error you face can you paste Error Description. Please run check link and Reconciliation on all module it should rectify problem.

     Thanks

    Ignacio,

Are you running GP on a Citrix or Terminal Server environment?  Are you able to print from other programmes such as outlook or word without an issue? Can you change the default printer in GP and see if this gives the same types of errors on printing. If local client install, does this occur from all GP client workstations or can other users print fine?

    Hello Sandip,

GP doesn't give an exact error. It just aborts its execution. In some other cases, it shows the report in blank (no data at all). This is happening with the financial reports only. It seems like something got corrupted.

    Thanks!

    Ignacio.

Do you have a valid printer defined as the default printer for the workstation.  I have heard of this happening if someone took a printer offline (makes it invalid) and it is the default printer.

    Ignacio,

It could be a corrupt dictionary in that case. Are you using local dictionaries, or shared ones? Have you got a test company installed, TWO? Does it error in this fashion on another GP company? Any other workstations with GP on this site, or is this the only one so far?

Are there any Event Veiwer logs at the time of the GP crash? I expect not, and just the Application Hang ones, but worth a shot.

It nearly has to be a corrupt reports dictionary. You need to debug this one as follows:

    1. Set up a new user. If you are in GP10 set up a new modified forms / reports ID. Don't grant access to any modified reports to this ID. Assign the ID to the new user. This guarantees that you are printing original versions of the reports.
    2. Now, using this user, log into GP and try printing your reports.
    3. If this doesn't work, log out, rename your reports.dic, log back in again and try printing again.

    Let us know the results.

    Best regards,

    Hello everyone,

I thank you all of you for your kind help on this issue. Yes, it was like Ian and Mark said: the REPORTS.DIC file was corrupted. I just moved the corrupted Reports.dic to other foldes and the problem got solved like a miracle! Now I am just importing the modified reports from a bakcup .package file

Again, thank you all for taking the time to help me out, I apprecite it!

    Ignacio.
