D365 V9 (on-premises), OneNote and SharePoint Online

Posted on by 60

Hello,

I would like to use OneNote to Dynamics 365 V9 On-Premises. I did it multiple of time with an online verson of D365. So I went to Setting > Document Management but I didn't see the button to integrate and activate OneNote. I checked on internet and I found we need to active SharePoint Integration to use it. Is it correct ? Q1

I never did an integration of SharePoint Online with D365 on-premises. I searched on internet and I found two intersting links. One is more complexe than the other.  Which one is the good solution ?  Q2

https://community.dynamics.com/crm/b/msdwcrmnews/posts/managing-microsoft-dynamics-365-for-customer-engagement-documents-in-sharepoint-online

I have the possibility to create a Team or a Community SharePoint Site. Which one should I choose for integration ? Q3

Thank you in advance and sorry for 3 questions in one post but there are linked :)

Regards,
K

    Hi Asif,

Yes i know i figured that but the option in Document Managment OneNote integration is not there, and in the Customization there is no option for OneNote only OneDrive.

That is my problem i don't have the option to click the OneNote integration.

the link you send is for SharePoint on-premise not Online.

I have Dynamics 365 on-premise and SharePoint Online.

    I followed this doc https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customerengagement/on-premises/admin/on-prem-server-based-sharepoint-online

    Hi Jane,

    Please check the prerequisite.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/configure-server-based-authentication-sharepoint-on-premises#other-prerequisites

There are  two ways to enable Onenote Integration for entities.

    Enable OneNote for Multiple entities.

    1. Go to Settings
    2. Choose Document Management
    3. Click OneNote Integration
    4. Follow the wizard and select the entities you want to integrate with OneNote
    5. Finish

Enable OneNote for a specific entity

    1. Go to Settings
    2. Choose Customization
    3. Click Customize the System
    4. Navigate to the entity you want to enable with OneNote
    5. Make sure ‘OneNote Integration’ is checked

    Hi KMARE,

Yes, to enable OneNote integration, you need to turn on server-based SharePoint integration.
    https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=837793

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customerengagement/on-premises/basics/use-onenote

For those who don’t know you can configure Dynamics 365 to use SharePoint for storing documents rather than attachments against Notes.

If you need to SharePoint Online with D365 on-premises Server based ,Sharepoint integration have both option to select whether you want integrate Online or On-premises Sharepoint sites.before start Integration you must need to verify the prerequisites as below:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../on-prem-server-based-sharepoint-online

You can select and create Team Site and see the link below for more details:

    Note:

The tenant must be same for both Sharepoint and Dynamics 365 Instance.

Server-based SharePoint integration uses the entity display name to build the SharePoint library. When you upgrade to server-based SharePoint integration, be sure to check that the display names in your document library on SharePoint match the entity display names.
