Inbound process work in warehousing

Hello everyone,

Good Morning!

I am trying to use the Advance Warehouse Management for warehouse tasks (inbound and outbound process).

I don't have to use the mobile device for this process or WHSWorkExecute.

In the outbound process, I have successfully configured the warehouse process. And I am able to perform sales picking, packing and shipping.

For the inbound process, I have to receive the items at a common receiving location and then put-away these items at their respective bins. Now, the problem occurs because in inbound process, you cannot create put-away work without mobile device registration.

Does anyone has a workaround for this? If anyone has customized this functionality, please help.

    Hi Anurag,

If you have received the items in to a location, you can create work to put them away via the Create inventory movement work function on the Warehouse management -> Setup -> Warehouse setup -> Locations form.

But I don't understand how you received the items via the Warehouse module if you're not using mobile device-type processes, or why you would want Work to put them away if you can't process it with a mobile device. Are you happy that using the warehouse module is not over complicating things unnecessarily?

    Hi Crispin,

Thank you so much for replying.

I don't understand your quote -  "If it is a WHS item, and you ship from Outbound with WHS work, you have to use the same at Inbound". Could you please explain this to me?

My requirement is to receive the items through transfer order/purchase order. After that I have to put-away the items to their respective bins. I have to create work on the basis of transfer order number. I don't have to use the mobile device.

How do I create work through code? It would be really helpful for me if you share the details with me.

    Thanks in advance,

    Anurag Nagarkoti

    Hi Guy,

I saw the Create inventory movement function. The problem with this functionality is that I cannot put-away multiple items at a single time. I also cannot split if I have to keep the same item in multiple locations.

I received the items from Inventory management module using item arrival journal. I want to create work because: -

    1. It gives you the flexibility to keep the items at fixed locations (using location directives actions)

    2. It gives you the flexibility to create a single work for multiple items in an order

    With regards,

    Anurag Nagarkoti

    Hi Guy,

I tried using the Inventory management for my requirements. But I faced the below problems: -

In warehouse management, I only have the problem of FIFO picking.

    Hi Anurag,

Those reasons seem pretty sound, and note that the Warehouse module can also help you with FIFO picking (especially if you are using the Batch dimension).

Note that the 'mobile device' app can be run on any Windows 10 PC.... you do not have to use it on a mobile device if you don't want to.
