What do you mean exactly by applying an item sales tax group to a large number of items?
Do you need to update your items with a changed item sales tax group?

I want to update the purchase and sales item tax group on the product card
For AX2012 systems, the best options are either to do it with the DIXF or to ask a developer to write a job for you that does the update. The 'developer job' option is probably the fastest and easiest one.
