Hi

 Let say we hire developer to design dashboard. Then we give developer user name and password to Power BI and Microsoft Buisness Central. Dataset get refresh from Microsoft Business Central into Power BI using developer user. If we remove developer user how we make sure data get refresh? Can we change credtinal between Power BI and Microsoft Business Central in Dataset?

Thanks

    RE: Power Bi Connection to Microsoft Business Central - User Credential Question

    Hi, according to Microsoft Docs, users get a free Power BI license with Business Central, and a Power BI free license can create and view reports. So even if you remove the developer user, I think BC will use the Power BI License of the current user to view the report.

    Hope this will help.

    Thanks.

    @YUN ZHU

    Hi Mr Zhu

    Thanks for your response.

    I think I did a bad job to explain what I mean

    Let say we create User1 and then User1 connect to BC and build the Dataset in Power BI and set the Dataset to refresh. Then User1 use this Dataset to build a dashboard and share a report/dashboard with others. Now, my assumption is Power BI uses User1  credentials to refresh Power BI Dataset from BC.

    What is going to happen if we disable or delete User1? My assumption is Power BI cannot refresh Dataset from BC.

    If this is correct is it anyway that we can replace User1 with User2 to refresh Dataset?

    Thanks

    @Marco Mels

    Thanks. I have read that article but could not find my answer. See below from the same article you have linked. What is going to happen if we disable the user we used? How we can update this user?

    Thanks

    RE: Power Bi Connection to Microsoft Business Central - User Credential Question

    Hello,

    I understand what you mean. I assume that you are using the free version of PowerBi. If you want a report to be shared with others so they are co owner, you need a pro license.

    Have a look here:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../service-features-license-type

    Thanks.
