On premise users

Hello all,
We have an on-premise client that has a local domain for example : test.local, by using ADFS the user should be able to login by using:
User@test.local
as we created ERP user from system administration using the same active directory in the email field and set it to
User@test.local
Now emails like workflow email notifications go to

User@test.local
meanwhile the actual email address that emails should forward to is the global one for example
user@test.com
but because user's email in the user configurations is

User@test.local
Emails don't reach the global address.

When talking to the client he said that he doesn't have mailboxes for the local ones.
Is there something we can do to configure emails to go to the global one or the client must have mailbox for his domain and forward emails from the local one to the global one?
I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

On the user options, you can specify an email address in case this is different from the login.

This setting overrides the email address to be used if provided.

Because this user is a D365 system user and you want the emails to be forwarded to the global email address that is user@test.com instead of user@test.local, then Go to System administration -> Users -> Users and in the Person field ensure you have the worker linked to the user. In the worker screen (Human Resources -> Workers -> Workers) under the contact information section, add the contact details with type Email address which in this case should be user@test.com.

System wide emails (System wide email setup):
For global email setups are configured at the environment level via the Email parameters page (under System Administration -> Setup -> Email -> Microsoft Graph settings (recommended for M365 or Exchange Online setups)/SMTP settings (to handle outbound delivery). There is no builti-in or forwarding mechanism within D365 FO to redirect emails from local domain addresses to a global one without external configuration (user@test.com).

Hope this helps. Happy to answer questions, if any.

    Thank you for your answers.
I think there's some kind of missing configurations related to active directory.
There should be some sort of trust between the local domain and the global one, so that i can create a user on D365FO with his global domain.
