Management reporter, calculate an average daily balance of a GL account?

Is there a way in management reporter to determine the average daily balance of a GL account over a month or quarter? This is for our customer to determine the average daily balance of an escrow account and pay interest on it quarterly. If they can at least get the average they can calculate the interest percentage themselves

    Frank,

This may be a sort of naïve solution...

I created a Column Definition that shows last month and this month (BASE-1 (Column B) and BASE (Column C)) and a CALC column with this Formula:

    B+(C-B)/30

Because there's no function in MR (well, there are no functions at all) that returns the number of days in the month, you would have to adjust the formula for the actual number of days in the month you're analyzing every time you run the report.

    Does this help?

That looks like a great solution to me! We will test it out. Thanks for the formula, you are like the Aaron Rodgers of Management Reporter!

    Frank,

Well, that formula doesn't rise to the level of an Aaron Rodgers Hail Mary, but I appreciate the Packers reference all the same!

P.S., would you mark the formula response as the Answer? Thanks!

Any smart ideas for how to make this same report calculate a daily average balance?

Column format you can use periodic and use from to 1 to 1 1 to 2 etc, you would need 31 columns, but then calculating the average you wind up with 31 more columns

that seems to be very large for something that could be easier, shorter, quicker.

    any thoughts?

    iruser2,

I'm a bit confused by "...for something that could be easier, shorter, quicker." If one used Excel to show daily averages for 31 days in a month, it allows you to stack formulae in successive rows; so you wouldn't have to have double the number of columns. Management Reporter isn't a spreadsheet, even though the developers have taken pains to make its Designer look like one.
