Searchable fields (namely, the SIC Code field)

i've been tasked with doing some sys admin for CRM (i'm new to CRM).  We're upgrading to CRM 2015 from an older version (from at least 6 years ago - yes, we've neglected this app for too long I know).  We have a SIC code field in the LEADS entity.  This field is designated as "searchable", but we can't seem to be able to search at all.  in the old crm, we can search in this field (that little maginifying glass - you click on it, and it magically pops up your SIC code choices.  and now that we've imported our existing data into the new CRM (in the TEST environment), we've noticed that this field is no longer searchable.  perhaps this is something simple, but i've looked everywhere i know (which isn't much at this point), but still can't figure this out.  the field is supposed to be searchable, yet it isn't.  would appreciate any thoughts on where to look/investigate.

thanks

    Hi,

Have you modified the quick find view to search the SIC field

HI Nolan, so you have completed the first step which is to make field searchable, this will allow advanced find to work. However it seem your using the Global Search option in CRM , you

Enable Quick Find for the Leads Entity Via System Settings

Update the Lead View in Entity Customisations Called 'Quick Find All Leads' , and update the 'Add View Columns' and 'Add Find Columns'  by checking the Lead SIC field is selected. Now Publish your Changes, and Try searching on sic again!

I hope my Efforts to answer you question were useful, Kindly Mark this Answer as Verified :)

    Best Wishes, Raz

thanks for your reply.  i followed your instructions, but still am unable to search when i'm in the SIC Code field.  Perhaps I've done something incorrectly, but I did follow your instructions.

after further analysis, it appears that the field that someone created for the 'sic' information made this a 'text' field instead of a lookup field.  so i created a new field and it appears to be working as i expected.  thanks for the help.
