RAF Co-Product

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

I am having issues on RAF of co-product--- item to be consumed in the planning formula is not deducted from inventory.

Several issues occur when i try to RAF a planning formula:

1. Planning formula cannot be reported as finished.

Error: Item number **** has not been completely released.

2. When one of the co-products in unticked in end job (RAF --> General --> End job), item can be reported as finished. However, quantity of **** has not been deducted from inventory. No transaction with B0 number is listed in the transaction.

>>> Co-product Qty is increased (ok)

>>> No inventory record for planning formula (ok)

>>> No deduction from the inventory of item that's supposed to be consumed (based on formula line of planning formula)

Is there any other setting that could have affected the planning formula and/or co-product production?

All my other items behave correctly. Only problem is planning formula and co-product.

Thanks in advance. :)

    Hi Guy,

This set up was also recommended to us.

Flushing principle was changed from "finish" to "start" and the picking list was posted at " Start".

This seems to work, as the expected result/inventory behavior were the same as the expectations.

    Thank you!

    Hi Sacha,

Do you get the same issue if you set AX to create the Picking list at Start, and manually post the picking list before you do the RaF?

The RAF at Production Control is through Planning item (since Batch Order and Master Planning for co-product run through the planning formula), but the RAF button, once clicked, will give the list of co-products to  be reported as finished (not the planning item).

It will be the differences you mention, the consumption issue is with the co-products and not the chicken - so are you RAF through the co-product RAF process or through the RAF process of the order for the planning item? I would start by looking at your processing differences and setup differences from your working examples.

    RE: RAF Co-Product

We're actually in a poultry industry and we're using the planning formula/co-product set-up for "disassembly" of whole chicken. i.e. planning formula is dressed bird then, co-products will be legs, thigh, wings, and breast. For the formula line of the PF dressed bird, the item is consuming dressed bird, which has a flushing principle set at finish.

For production control set-up, we allow negative consumption. Picking list journal is posted together with the Report as Finished.

Based on the above, i was actually expecting the picking list journal to be posted upon report as finished.

Have i missed any other set-up to make this work as expected?

Furthermore, almost similar set-up is used for our other formula items, and those work accordingly.

Do let me know if you need further details if the above description is quite confusing.

    Thank you!

So how are you consuming the components? What are you doing to create the picking list at the start of production? Alternatively if you are backflushing what are your settings there? Do you know when and how to consume the components - you seem to be expecting this to happen rather than you defining and controlling it?

Although to be fair I thought the planning formula was used specifically for co-product production - could you describe a bit clearer your setup as well, I presume this is a batch order RAF by inference.
