Microsoft Dynamics GP (Archived)

user already logged in cannot delete their own login session

Posted on by 165

This has been happening for the past month. When users either improperly exit GP or just regularly exit GP, sometimes their username is still logged into the company. This easily can be cleared by an admin user in the USER ACTIVITY area, but users have the permission to DELETE their own current session within that company. The window will pop up and you can highlight your username that is logged into company ABC and be on your way.

Well what's been happening is the window to delete the login will either go behind the company selection screen and become inaccessible or the window will just appear and then disappear. So an admin MUST delete the session out of the user activity area.

Any idea why this recently started happening to any random user who uses GP? I'm getting tired of having to manually delete the session out of the user activity area for each user. Before they could of deleted it out themselves. Now sometimes they cannot.

Please help.

We are having this issue too.  Unfortunately the work around doesn't quite work for us.  I have added this to the MS Connect site if you would like to vote for a fix.

Ironically I just had to put the above workaround to the test - It worked like a charm.

Sending this info to in house IT for other users.

I understand your aggravation because I have encountered this same issue, time and time again.  While researching a solution today, I found the following possible "workaround" posted by another user.  Haven't tried it....but for what it is worth.

A forum post from July 2012:

There is no fix that I know of for this, we still experience it on GP version 11.00.1799 no matter what OS it is running under.  The workaround is as follows:

    1) Attempt login

    2) When prompted to view other logins choose 'No'

    3) When prompted for Company Login choose 'Ok'

    4) When prompted to view current logins choose 'Yes'

Result - the current logins window will appear and you can kill the logins required.

After I trained my users to do this I never get called any longer, but it sure would be nice to have this fixed.

We are not using remote app or citrix. We have users on terminal servers and users on laptops that have gp locally installed. So i don't think this applies to us. Anything else?

  • Re: user already logged in cannot delete their own login session

This issue is typically due to either running Citrix or Remote Application. If you are using Remote App please make sure you have followed the information in the following link:
