Allow sales documents commitments

Posted on 27 Aug 2010 16:03:26 by 1,445
The way our company functions currently is as follows: The salesmen in the field contacts the home office to place an order. They send their receiver to the home office to receive items into inventory. They email a copy of a sales order to the home office to invoice the customer. We will eventually get our salesman all online to GP but until then, I am looking to make things easier. What i would like to know is: If I create a purchase order and mark is to allow sales documents commitments, will this allow the billing department to attach their sales invoice to the po? I've looked in the sales transactions screen and can't find where to link the line item to a specific po. Thanks, Michelle

I'm not sure we have the correct settings marked to allow the po commitments.  When i go to enter a line item on the SOP, i do see a page but no paperclip.  When i open it, it has quanity shortage options: sell balance, override shortage, cancel all, cancel balance and distribute.  There is no place to select a po.  I do have the po marked to allow document commitments.  Is there a setting i don't have marked or a module not allowed?

    Michelle,

You are correct. If you mark the allow sales documents commitments on the PO, a line item on the SOP document can be linked to that PO. On the SOP document you would select the line item and then click on the button in the column header that looks like a page with a paperclip on it. Clicking on this button will open the PO Commitments for Sales Documents window. You can select the PO that goes with this SOP line item in this window.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
