When performing an on-premise Business Central to SaaS upgrade, we typically convert C/AL to AL during the upgrade process to the latest on-premise Business Central version before migrating to the cloud. However, we have a customer who is currently on Business Central version 14 in C/AL, and it's unclear whether it is possible to directly migrate C/AL to SaaS without first converting to AL by moving them to Business Central version 22 on-premise.
I have reviewed the Migration Table Mapping resource provided in this link: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/administration/migration-table-mapping. While it seems that this approach would work for custom tables, I am unsure if it works seamlessly for standard tables, and I'm also curious about what happens to custom fields on standard tables during the migration process. Can anyone with experience in Business Central migration clarify whether it is possible to directly migrate C/AL to SaaS, and how custom fields on standard tables are handled in this scenario? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated.
