MRP over multiple Warehouses

Hi all,

We currently have the following scenario,

We purchase packaging from our suppliers using blanket orders, the stock is produced and stored at the suppliers and then called up on a weekly basis.

Blanket Order - Currently ordered based on Monthly Forecast,
Call-up - Currently done on a weekly basis based on actual production schedule.

We are using AX 4 and currently do not use MRP for this function, we currently raise 1 purchase order and then receipt each individual delivery as it is called in. The stock at the 3rd warehouse is not taken into consideration.

How would we implement this setup via MRP?, our intention is to raise a blanket order against warehouse "SUP" and then book the stock into this warehouse, we will then transfer from warehouse "SUP" to warehouse "PRD". THis will ensure that stock in both warehouses is taken into consideration, however it appears that MRP only looks at the 1 warewhouse and not the stock in the external warehouse.

Hope this makes sense,

Richard

    Re: MRP over multiple Warehouses

    Richard,

MRP can look at multiple warehouses and determine your reorder points for both of them.  You can set the reorder level for the Item / Warehouse combination using the Item Coverage (ReqItemTable) functionality of the Item master.  MRP will use this information to always keep your "PRD" warehouse up to the stocking levels you define for each item.  You can then transfer the inventory from "SUP" to "PRD" via a Transfer Inventory Journal or a Transfer order (MRP generated) if "SUP"

Part of the setup is to setup the Main warehouse which will fullfill the PRD warehouse via planned transfer orders in MRP.
