Is workflow approval possible on internal orders (we use project item requirements) for that?

Hi,

Is it possible to use a workflow approval on projects for item requirements? We have that now for purchase orders on projects, but item requirements does not have that, or I do not see it.

User story: as a R&D engineer I enter my item requirements on a project and then the project manager approves them through a workflow. After that approval the items are released to the warehouse for picking and delivery.

Workflow approval for item requirements is not supported out of the box

Thank you, do you have another idea of how our R&D engineers (about 50 engineers) can order items in an easy fashion with a kind of approval? We now have a paper work flow? It happens occasionally that they order so much items that we are out of stock for producing our end product :-). For purchase orders that those R&D engineers pursuit at vendors we do have a work flow in place with 4 project managers.

    Feedback (side note:)

It happens that you are from Microsoft and today we had a fruitful discussion with our MS partner and Microsoft The Netherlands that we look forward to collaborate more with you(r) development team to engage in a faster response on bugs and how to use the WHS properly..but also to see if we can improve your products as we are an extreme fast growing company and above all we partner with Microsoft with our R&D engineers on our product :-).

As said we are exploring the item requirements as a replacement for our internal transfer process and manual paper work on getting items to our R&D department at a different location. We have a manual procedure with paper on which the Project Manager approves and then a warehouse clerk enters them in AX as a transfer order. Then the reception receives the transfers...and finance eventually writes off the stock on that R&D warehouse.

We are looking in an easier way to have internal ordering done. So we came to project with item requirement and that more engineers can order from the same project..but in AX2012 there is only 1 internal sales order and not multiple (for every engineer one), because every engineer wants to receive his/ her own stuff.

So we have put packing slip update summary checkbox on 'delivery name' and fill in 'delivery name' for every R&D-er (50 times) on our internal customer..a lot of work for every R&D er entering our company. The R&D-er has to enter the item requirements with activity number, entering the delivery name, reserve stock line by line..and multiple engineers on a project wanting to order items for R&D research...is quite complicated. Then in the warehouse we collect the order and now on the packing slip we also see what is in back order for that engineer..so the reception does not have to do that check anymore.

Third, we are also currently in a licensing round with Microsoft and using more roles of AX. It seems that we all our 50 engineers appear to be Enterprises Licenses. I guess we are using Dynamics AX not correctly since they basically order parts and half assemblies or order prototypes through PO's and we would like to have them write time + order items from our warehouse.

So I guess there is more to explore why this question is actually asked on this forum and I hope you catch it up as value feedback to improve your product.

    HI,

I received it and we might allocate 1 resource to you. We have been taking to the Program Manager of the WHS module as well.

Here is a challange for us and for you:
