Enable attachments on in sandbox but not in managed production solution

Posted on by 5

I have several entities in my sandbox environment that I enabled attachments for.  I then added the timeline component to the main forms and it all works as it should.  I export the custom solution as managed and import it into my production environment.  The forms still have the timeline which generates the following message: No records can be displayed since this entity is not enabled for Notes, Activities or Posts.  And sure enough, the entities that are enabled in the Sandbox are not enabled in production and as production is a managed solution, I cannot make that change.  Does anyone have a solution/suggestion for this?

I have resolved my own issue: In the production environment, I created a new unmanaged solution, then added the entities that needed to have attachments enabled, then I enabled attachments for each.  The timelines on all the entity forms lit up.  Then I deleted the unmanaged solution from the production environment and tested to ensure the feature was still enabled -and it was since once you turn this feature on, it cannot be turned off.  I hope this helps anyone else that might experience this issue.  Seems odd that the setting would not come over ro production.  A bug perhaps....

Thank you for responding.  Unfortunately, this is the process that I have followed several times and it still is not working.  The checkbox in production after importing the managed solution is still unchecked and greyed out.

I believe the only solution is to make the change in a lower environment (enable attachments on the entity in sandbox, make sure its in the exported solution) and export as managed.
