Unable to load client print protocol

Hi,

I'm running CRM 4.0 (rollup 7) on a Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit server. SQL Server is 2008 and also Windows 2008 R2 64-bit. I get the error "unable to load client print control" when trying to print a report. I've found tons of advice regarding SSRS 2005, it's almost unbelievable 2008 is still affected!

Any ideas? I don't have KB956391 on either server or my workstation. And the CRM site is a trusted one.

Thanks,
Jari

Have you installed Microsoft Report Viewer Redistributable 2005 Service Pack 1?

No Alex, I haven't. Are you suggesting I should install that on a server that's running SQL Server 2008?

I installed Microsoft Report Viewer 2008 SP1 ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=BB196D5D-76C2-4A0E-9458-267D22B6AAC6&displaylang=en ) on both SQL Server and client. Still the same error.

OK, looks like CRM does not pay any attention to the fact that we're using SQL Server 2008. So Alex was on the right track, thanks for the response!

I installed the Report Viewer Redistributable 2005 Service Pack 1 GDIPLUS.DLL Security Update from www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx on the CRM application server, then ran IISRESET and that was it, the reports can now be printed straight from  CRM.

Hopefully this will be helpful for someone else!

    Thanks Jari,

solution worked for me. I am using CRM 4.0 with  UR 7, SQL 2008, Win 2008 R2. Initially i tried to change the CRM config in order to use  new version of report viewer control, but didn't worked for me.

After installing Report Viewer Redistributable 2005 Service Pack 1 GDIPLUS.DLL Security Update its working fine. Dont forget to do IISRESET after installation.
