Possible to create custom view that shows only the most recent record for a field?

Is it possible to create a custom view that shows only the most recent record for a field?  I have a custom entity that will contain multiple records for a data point.  How would I filter out the older records so only the most recent record shows in the view?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.  The people in this group amaze me with your knowledge and willingness to share it with newbies like me!

You could use either the created on field or the last modified field depending on what current information you are wanting.

    Hi,

I assume that you know Advance Find feature in CRM? If not the you should see some tutorial, here is one:

    www.youtube.com/watch

If you understand how Advanced find works - you can just specify your view with CreatedOn/ModifiedOn date as column and you can sort on that column in descending order. That would show you the latest (latest according to creation or modification date, it's up to you) records first. You can add some filtering criteria like "CreatedOn On or After Last Week" so you can see only records from last week, or last day or even last hour.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you!  Yes, I can sort by the Created on/Modified On date, but I actually need to filter OUT everything except the most recent record.  I need to end up with a list of current orders for the circuit id, without any date parameters.

So basically you want something like "Top 1 record"? It's possible to create such view but only programatically using CRM SDK, you cannot configure it using Advanced Find using UI. If you are not developer, maybe there is some technical support for you CRM that makes customizations, they should be able to do this.
