Decimal Precision Issues and Inventory Transactions

Item No 1 has a Purchase UOM of Gallons and conversion rate is  1 Gallon = 5,443.10844 Grams
  1. Create PO for 15 gallons (81,646.6266g) 
  2. Receive
  3. Onhand shows: 81,646.63g (nowhere in the UI can I see 81,646.6266
  4. Attempt to transfer entire qty: 
  5. Error occurs:

81646.63 cannot be picked
because only 81646.6266
is/are available from the
inventory for item:

Item No 2 has purchase UOM of lb. 1lb = 1 Lbs = 453.59237 Grams
  1. Create PO for 1lb (453.59237g)
  2. Receive
  3. Onhand shows: 453.59g (nowhere in the UI can I see 453.59237
  4. Transfer entire qty shown in UI (453.59g)
  5. On hand now shows a row with qty of 0 but with cost, because there is really 0.00237g left in old location

The big problem we have is that users cannot enter 4DP in journals, so we have tons of  tiny batches around

Any suggestions on how to fix these issues?

    Hi Mark,

    Is there a specific reason to have Grams as inventory unit? Are the sales in grams or also Gallons or Lbs? Can you provide more context?

    I wasn't here when the system was installed. Apparently the business wants all inventory UOMs to be grams. Very strange. These are manufacturing ingredients so no sales UOM involved for these items
