Dear Sirs,
My name is Djordje and I am researcher from Tipteh. We have successfully imported web URL link to guides as IGNITION Perspective SCADA dash board. We would like to fix web browser we open to exact stop in space in accordance to QR code anchor like we have fixed 3D object from 3Dtoolkit. Right now by default web browser is opend in follow-me mode.
Also how to have automatic close of all web browser pages when Guide is finished.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Djordje
HI Djordje
You can position and 'lock' the browser window in world after it is opened.
We don't currently support the ability to pre-author it's position like other 3d assets.
Also, there isn't a way to close all windows in a single action. I've documented this feedback.
Ryan
You cannot lock the web browser at a specific position.
You cannot automatically close all the tabs after you have finished with a single action.
Thank you Ryan so much. I will have to make some other way to do my task.
Thank you for your inquiry. It sounds like you're working on an exciting integration with the IGNITION Perspective SCADA dashboard!
To address your first question about fixing the web browser position according to a QR code anchor: Currently, when the web browser opens in "follow-me" mode, it automatically follows the user's perspective and position. Unfortunately, the default behavior doesn't allow for fixing it to an exact position in 3D space directly through the browser settings in Ignition. However, what you might consider is using JavaScript within the web page to capture the QR code data and control the browser's positioning programmatically. This would likely involve combining Ignition scripting with JavaScript to lock the browser's view to the desired position. In terms of the 3D object from 3D Toolkit, a similar approach might work if the QR code's anchor point can be translated into specific coordinates that the browser can lock onto.
You can also explore utilizing Perspective views that allow positioning of elements, but fixing the web browser specifically in 3D space might need more customization, potentially integrating with other libraries to handle both the QR code's anchor and browser positioning.
For the second issue regarding the automatic closing of all web browser pages once the guide finishes, you can make use of Ignition's session management features or JavaScript within the embedded web page to trigger a session end or close the browser window. If you're running it in a Perspective session, you could create a script that runs when the guide is completed (perhaps tied to a timer or a state change) to close the tab or terminate the session.
If you're looking for more details on this kind of integration, I recommend checking out resources on SCADA system integrations and how they can maximize industrial efficiency. You might find this article helpful for more context: Maximizing Industrial Efficiency with SCADA Integration.
