Relevance search - "the search service is currently unavailable. try again later or use categorized search"

When searching using the relevance search, instead of results appearing I get a message:

"the search service is currently unavailable. try again later or use categorized search"

No error log is produced.

Affecting all users.

Dynamics 365 Version 1710 (9.1.0.4231) Online April 2019 updates enabled.

This has been approx 24 hours now.

Issue is only present in the production instance. Sandbox works fine, and taking a full copy of Production also works fine.

Make sure you configure Relevance Search -

community.dynamics.com/.../dynamics-365-relevance-search-enable-and-set-up

Are your Prod and Sandbox on the same version or just the Prod has the latest?

Both are the same version. The Sandbox is an empty copy, but returns a "There are no results to display" rather than the "Service is not available"

The full copy created in the support instance today is also the same version and the problem does not exist there either.

Hi Greg,

I'm also facing the same Error("Service is not available") in my Sandbox instance. however, our Production instance Relevance Search is working fine.

Let me know if we're able find the cause.

Simply disabling Relevance search from System Settings and then enabling it again worked for me.
