Drop Shipment + Item Tracking

Hi all,

I have a question concerning the use of drop shipment in combination with item tracking on an Item.

I've made a sales order with an item with drop shipment. After this one I've ran my MRP, and I have an open PO now.
No problem on this so far.

At a sudden moment, I receive a message from my vendor that they've shipped the item. At this moment I don't receive a serial no. (The serial no. will be on the purchase invoice)
So I can't receive my PO because I need to enter the serial no. I want to do this because after receival, so I can send out an order confirmation to the end-customer as well.

I want to add a serial no. to my sales invoice after /shipping/ the item, because the serial no. is on the purchase invoice. Is this possible in a standard way?

Kr,

Pieter

You will have to post the purchase order first with the serial no.  Once you do that, the serial no. will populate to the sales order and you can post the sales order.

For this You would need to talk with Your vendor if they can give You this information at the moment of their shipping.

Otherwise - it would be possible to change the requirements for the Item Tracking Code - that You don't require Lot No. on Inbound transactions - but not sure if this would be the correct approach. You can test this.
