Port 110 and 25 does not work

Posted on by 220

I've enabled CRM to change security email level in order to use port 110 and 25. It works on email client.
When I've tried to use it I have receive an authentication error, both for in and out.

Question is: can I use 110 and 25 in CRM on premise?

Regards,
Graziano.

I've solved the problem. If I don't specify Base Auth, CRM tries to connect without authentication. I have to set also AllowBasicAuthenticationOnNonSecureChannel to true in order to have the possibility to set basic auth on not SSL channel.

Now it works. Unsafe but works. However I have no other choice...

This hypothetical Exchange is the mail server of the biggest italian provider... I don't know how it negotiate the connection.
I only know that Outlook works and CRM does not.

Exchange is not happy with your settings.  I would talk with your Exchange admin and see what auth log is getting created when that error is getting shown.  It should have a lot more detail as to why Exchange is rejecting your authentication request.

I don't have thousands of settings...

Pop3 server on 110, without SSL user and password.

Smtp server on 25, without SSL same credentials.

    This settings work on Outlook.

This is the error on CRM.

    >Error : System.Net.Mail.SmtpException: Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.1.0 Rqfb1w00z1ehj5w01qfbEy authentication failed

You should be able to use those ports On Premise. If the error is an authentication error, then its more likely to be an issue with either the credentials you use, or settings on the email server, rather than the port
