Serial and Lot tracking - Change track Mid way

If lot tracking has been adopted can we move to serial tracking mid way and start tracking by serial going forward.  Are there any system limitations ?

    I am not quite sure about the point you've just mentioned

    could you please illustrate further ...

    otherwise, I would recommend to run that on a test environment

    The document says there should be no inventory.  Meaning it can never happen.  Am I reading it correctly.

    You should be able to do so in different methods based on your current status. 

    1. Supposing you have current open transactions on the item in SOP, POP or inventory , you should go through the following steps;
      1. You could either remove  all the transaction on this item directly from GP (Open and History). Or move open transactions to history. (According to your business need)
      2. Check the tracking option and whether you are able to change the option on the item maintenance window
      3. If it was not accessible, you could do that on the database level through SSMS

    In case you have no transactions on the item, then you are living such a happy life. Go change the option with no worries at all
