Stock Booking Process

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello again

As my last query was solved so kindly and persisitently by Babu I am back with another I'm afraid.

The stock booking process has us a bit foxed. We are not a business that sends out stock with an invoice. Because of they way we work we send out stock and it may be some time, sometimes months, before we are in a position to raise a sales invoice for those items. Dynamics however seems to want to automatically raise and post an invoice the instant we book stock out. This has led to a convoluted process whereby we book stock out at zero value and when we are in a position to raise a sales invoice we do a zero cost return of all the stock and then book it out at the right prices and the sales invoice is raised by the system.

My first question is Are we using the stock booking process correctly?

My second question is whether there is another more time efficient way to do what we do?

My third question, How are the stock system and the ledgers linked?

and my fourth question is if the answer to question 2 is No, then can we break the link between the stock and invoicing and what are the implications of doing so?

I would be very grateful of some help with this. I am being asked these questons and am at a loss to answer even one of them.

Thanks so much in advance

Gillie
