Item Grouping

I want to evaluate the material used on production order BOM's for the past year. We use many different materials and it is nearly impossible to go through each transaction individually. Is there any way I can group the same materials together and see their total quantity used on BOM's in the last year? Right now when I view the Warehouse Transactions Detail Report and Sales BOM Consumption History Report, the items are arranged by date. I want to sum the quantities of each item number for the whole year and view the total quantity used for each item in AX 2009. Thank you in advance.

    HI Blake,

    We had similar request from the customer, What we did is we bought Item Group along with the Item Number in the Report BOM Consumption Report. So that when you generate report User can filter by Item group and sump the total quantity in Excel.  May be you need technical help for this.

    Is your Items grouped as per the same material type or in a different nature to identify the same materials?

    Thanks

    In the Sales BOM Consumption History Report the material is listed by the date it was consumed. I exported the report to Excel and organized it by item number but the report doesn't give the total amount of material used, just the number of parts the material produced on the certain production order.

    I need to see the total amount of each material used for the last year, now that I have them organized by their item number.

    Hi Blake,
    Open Transaction form from Stock Management - Inquiries - Transactions - Transactions
    Apply filter on:
    * Issue Status column Sold, Deducted

    * Physical date column 1/1/2016..31/12/2016

    *Number column with your production work order prefix*

    Export the table into excel and insert pivot table to sum your quantities.

    You might need to add additional column of BOM part numbers that match your production work orders to get the data you need.
    Regards,
    V
